NB In addition to the cookies wording above it would be sensible to include a pop up – following the ICO guidance which covers the consent requirements for accepting cookies. This only needs to appear where someone first comes to the Site (or wipes their cookies and revisits).
The guidance suggests that if something along the lines of the following appears at the top of the home page:
Computer 2000 would like to place cookies on your computer to help us improve your experience on our Site. To find out more about cookies and why/when we use them please see our Privacy Notice.
The ICO has suggested that even if the box is not ticked or the Continue button pressed the fact that the notice is at the top of the page and will continue to be present if the individual continues to navigate should be enough to ensure that the individual has informed consent that cookies are being used. The alternative would be that you would need to block access to pages where cookies were applied (if they were non-vital cookies) which presumably would be very difficult to manage.
